A nice modern serving cart with decent looks and quality BUT VERY labor
intensive and complicated to assemble. Plan to give yourself at
least 3
solid hours and don't try to assemble this if you have a headache or
are having a bad day or under stress! Product arrived safely, in 2
boxes.

Attractive but side shelves are very narrow and drawer doesn't align properly on tracks making it difficult to open and close.

We bought this item last week and just love it. We were worried about
assembling it ourselves, especially after reading some of the reviews,
but aside from one flimsy piece of hardware, assembling it was rather
easy and the piece is sturdy, beautiful, and very functional. The
drawers, cabinets, and shelves have a good amount of storage space. The
trim and construction are beautiful. A great item, especially in this
price range.

If you have patience, I'm sure one person could manage the construction
of this island w/ some effort. I would have likely needed help,
considering I'm a 5' tall chick. ...My boyfriend, thankfully, is VERY
handy, and he did it all himself after I dragged the boxes in from the
front door. He had this bugger together in less than an hour, all on
his own. --He usually hates when I order things online, but he could
not stop commenting on how well constructed the pieces were (real wood),
and how easy this was to put together.
Aside from the high price tag, I decided it was worth it, and have admired it more and more over time. I'm uncertain what problems people may have had with assembly or construction with the 'leaf' falling down on them (I almost did NOT order this product due to those reviews), but I've had several young children, adults, construction workers, and my lazy-self all leaning up against the leaf, and it holds just fine...real wood and all. Just make sure you 'secure' the holders for it, and we've had no troubles at all. Everyone comments that it looks like it was built especially for my kitchen, but I know I can take it with me if ever I move. The extra storage is WAY a god-send, and the quality of the wood and pieces are the best I've seen in stores OR in 'self-assembly' furniture. |

It came in two boxes and boy were we worried. But, it was easy to
assemble, is very study, great for a small kitchen like mine and
provides that extra counter space and storage needed. I can't stop
looking at it. It's amazing! You can't go wrong with this one!

I purchased this island after an exhaustive search that included hours
of reading customer reviews of this and other similarly-priced islands.
In the end, this one cost slightly more than some of the others, but it
truly is a quality piece.Assembly was simple and accomplished in less than an hour with basic tools. All of the pieces fit together easily and the directions were about as clear and simple as can be. In its finished form, this is a stout island that should last for many years under normal use. It truly feels like a piece of furniture, compared to some of the others that I looked at that are primarily constructed of pressed wood & look cheap and flimsy. I do have to echo the sentiments of other reviewers that have stated that the finish on the top of this island looks like it could be easily scratched. A butcher block top would be much better, but would likely increase the cost as well. Our solution was to order a piece of glass from a local company to cover the top of the island. The glass will add around $45 to our purchase price, but will protect the top from moisture, scratches and other potential damage for a minimal investment. If you are looking for a kitchen island in the $300-400 range, trust me, this is the one. |
